About the event

The Palmetto Journey of Hope is a collaboration between SCADP and Journey of Hope...From Violence to Healing. It is a speaking series empowering the voices of murder victim family members towards the abolition of the death penalty. Together with other anti-death penalty voices (former death row residents, death row family members, department of corrections employees, capital defense lawyers, and law enforcement), the Journey of Hope has sparked legislative change across the country.


About the Speakers:


Sherrerd Hartness is a speaker and passionate advocate for co-victims of murder having spent decades fighting the challenges that faced her and her family after her younger sister was violently murdered in 1977 in a gun-crime double-homicide. Today, Sherrerd dedicates her time to teaching others about the effects of murder and violent crime on families and co-victims. Sherrerd’s heart is for helping those who have suffered loss while also helping those who have never experienced…
