Rev. Hillary Taylor
Executive Director (She/Her)
Rev. Hillary Taylor is the Executive Director of South Carolinians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (SCADP). Before working for SCADP, Hillary spent time working as a young adult missionary in South Africa and Miami, FL, a pastor in Saluda, SC, and a hospital chaplain at Greenville Memorial Hospital. A graduate of both Furman University and Candler School of Theology (Emory University), Hillary has been working against the death penalty since organizing with the #KellyOnMyMind Campaign in 2015 for Kelly Gissendaner in Georgia. When she returned to South Carolina, she became the spiritual advisor to Brad Sigmon, who was executed on March 7, 2025. She continues abolition work in his memory. When she is not working, Hillary loves being outdoors, doing yard work, and spending time with her wife and pets.

Nyla Figueroa
Community Liaison (She/Her)
Nyla Figueroa is a temporary Community Liaison for SCADP passionate about her desire for change. She is a recent graduate of Coastal Carolina University earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Forensics and a minor certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies. Nyla was a Summer 2024 intern with SCADP earning familiarity in this field of advocacy and helping the organization. She gained interest in alternatives to the death penalty through research in high school that has followed into college. She believes the death penalty is morally wrong and wants to fight against it.

Amiris Roberts
Summer Intern (She/Her)
Amiris Roberts (she/her) is a senior at Coastal Carolina University double majoring in Public Health and Health Science. A passionate advocate for racial justice, equity, and Public Policy, Amiris brings years of grassroots organizing experience, including leadership roles in the NAACP and Social Justice Club. As a woman from a minority, she centers intersectionality and lived experience in her fight against state violence and the death penalty. Amiris hopes to pursue a JD/MBA and continue advocating for transformative justice in South Carolina and hopefully run for South Carolina's 6th Congressional District.

Rev. Lily Wood
Seminary Intern
(She/Her)
Lily Wood is a native of Greenville, SC, and serves on the pastoral staff at Pelham Road Baptist Church. She is actively involved in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of South Carolina, where she is a member of the Coordinating Council, and serves on the leadership team of GOAL Justice, an interfaith organization that addresses pressing community issues such as affordable housing and transportation. Prior to transitioning to full-time ministry in 2023, Lily was the Chief Operating Officer of a financial services law firm and also worked in the education sector. A graduate of Bob Jones University, she is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Central Seminary in Kansas. Lily and her husband, Jake, homeschool their two children, Elizabeth and Daniel.

Becca Ahern
Summer Intern (She/Her)
Becca Ahern is a rising junior at Furman University majoring in Philosophy and Sustainability Science with a minor in Poverty Studies. She is a member of Furman’s mock trial team, the Riley Institute Advance Team, the Shi Institute Eco Rep’s, and the Secretary of the Pre-Law society. Becca plans on attending law school in the fall of 2027. She is an avid reader, writer, and is an advanced scuba diver with a passion for advocacy.
